PROBLEM

Temporary vegetation was required on a project perimeter to provide silt and erosion protection for a pad site in San Antonio, TX. What makes great base material makes less than ideal growing medium though, and there was less than one percent organic matter – far less than was needed to sustain successful plant growth.

SOLUTION

Joel Denofrio with Innovative Soil Solutions and Kyle Rainey of Lone Star Environmental recommended the use of Biotic Earth to address the lack of organic matter and to add much needed water and nutrient holding capacity to the base material. The temporary and permanent seed mixes as well as the fertilizer were applied with the Biotic Earth. 100% cellulose hydromulch was used for erosion control.
